I used to be a cigarette smoker. One evening I took some LSD and went for a walk, forgetting my cigarettes. When I was several blocks away, I remembered that I had forgotten them. In my mind, I saw them clearly sitting on the table where they were left. At that moment, I realized the large gap between myself and the cigarettes and felt a very profound release, thinking, “I don’t need these things.” While I didn’t quit immediately, that single experience began unraveling my ten year addiction to nicotine. Today, I’m ten years clean of cigarettes and cannot stand the thought of smoking another one. That’s just one positive experience/result I’ve had as a result of psychedelic use in my early twenties.
